The 2019 “Timed Exposure” members’ AVI presentation evening on 7th March was judged by our own John Randall.

The results of John’s assessment were:

1stSteve Amey“London through the eyes of a Canon 7D”A collection of images taken in London over a 2-3 year period.
The idea was to portray a day from Sunrise to Sunset with some additional ‘after Dark’ images.
Musical choice gave some opportunities to showcase particular images as their content matched the lyrics well.
Equal 1stSteve Govan“France: A land of Chateaux, Cities and Wildlife”A collection of images taken in France from Mont St Michel in the north down to the Camargue in the south, taking in several Chateaux (such as Chambord), some beautiful old Cities such as Bordeaux and Carcassone and a wide range of wildlife as well as the beautiful Camargue horses. The classical music accompanying the images was Gymnopedies No 3, and an excerpt from Mahler’s 5th Symphony.
ThirdGavin Fisher“Iceland, a Different World”A short (2 min 52 sec) presentation of a collection of photos taken along the south coast of Iceland during winter. At this time of year you only get a few hours of light which accentuates the unique geology. The strong coastal wind helps to moderate the temperature but does make photography challenging. This collection includes mountains, snow, ice, beaches, sea, aurora borealis, sunrises, sunsets and a hillside church. The music was selected to emphasise the contrast to UK geology and the impression of a different world.
